Jack Maraghy is an award-winning screenwriter working in fiction, animation, theatre, and video games across the UK and the US. He writes heightened stories with characters caught between the wonder of life and the reality of living.

His short animation, MUM’S SPAGHETTI, won a Student Academy Award in 2023. Spaghetti and another short animation, FROM THE TOP, were shortlisted for The Yugo BAFTA Student Awards and are screening at festivals worldwide. WANK, a harrowing comedy short adapted from his play, POOL JETS, has also been selected for several BAFTA and Academy Award qualifying festivals. Jack and director Lisa Kenney are currently developing a short film with BBC Film. 

Jack is a graduate of the National Film and Television School’s screenwriting master’s program in London. He has a BA from Wesleyan University's College of Film and the Moving Image where he trained as a director of photography. Time behind the camera brings a distinct visual flavour to his work.
